Welcome to Our Journey!
Founded by Cathy Kostendt in 2024, A Place in the Woods was created from a heartfelt calling to acknowledge the importance of our planet. Cathy dreamed of a space where people could reconnect with themselves, each other and nature, finding healing and peace along the way, so she decided to share her property with others. Today she's partnered with local practitioners to offer meaningful experiences that nurture both nature and inner stillness in her own backyard. Come, fall in love with the beauty of nature and the power of being present, not perfect, as we celebrate each other and the wonderful world that supports us.
Our Facilitators

Alannah Daphne
Alannah is a holistic practitioner who blends her passion for wellness with her intuitive gifts. She is trained in Usui Reiki, holistic coaching, breathwork, nutrition and herbalism. Her intention with each practice and offering she shares is to help people deepen their connection with themselves, through inner listening and self acknowledgement. Alannah loves guiding people through emotional healing by helping clients explore how their feelings can affect their overall wellbeing. Through intuitive energy readings and somatic practices, she creates space to gently release the emotional weight they carry, so they can step into a life more embodied to their highest soul frequency.

Kelly Hovorka
Kelly is a retired nurse with over 40 years of healthcare experience, now embracing a new chapter in beautiful Port Stanley. As a 300 hr Registered Yoga Teacher, she loves sharing the practice of yoga and its many health benefits with others teaching Hatha, Yin, Yang-Yin, Restorative and Flow. She creates a space where everyone feels supported, challenged and grounded. Her personal journey including a hip replacement in March 2025, has deepened her empathy and understanding of the body's resilience. She looks forward to another year at A Place in the Woods, encouraging people to explore their strength, flexibility and inner peace regardless of their starting point.

Missy Vermeersch
Missy Vermeersch is a Reiki Master Teacher, Sound Therapy Practitioner, and Practitioner of Celtic Shamanism in St Thomas. She weaves Shamanic techniques into her sessions with clients, whether individual or in groups. At her home studio she offers individual and group sessions, workshops, events, and teaches Reiki as well. She first began this journey for self-exploration and healing for herself and felt called to begin offering it to others for the same reasons.

Rebecca Gilchrist
Rebecca's journey into healing began through the power of touch working as a Massage Therapist, then an Osteopathic Manual Therapist. She discovered how the body holds memory--of tension, trauma, resilience and everything in between. She came to understand the body's capacity to heal when met with presence and care, expanding over time to emotional, spiritual and energetic levels. She walks the path of a plant medicine ceremonialist, supporting others in returning to their natural rhythm, reconnecting with themselves and reclaiming parts of them that may have been silenced or forgotten. She is honoured to walk alongside others on their sacred journey home. For more info email her at oursacredjourney@hotmail.com
